Sparking a Love for Art

Looking to add some variety to your afternoon stroll? Or maybe you’re an art lover looking for some fresh air? The Sparks Art Walk is a great way to relax and unwind while enjoying local artwork. Located throughout Victorian Square in downtown Sparks, the Sparks Art Walk offers a curated collection of public art available for anyone to enjoy.

What makes the Sparks Art Walk unique?

Aside from the interesting art itself, each piece has an associated QR code, providing unique insight into the art pieces, their history, and the artists themselves. Simply scan the code located in front of each installation with your phone to get started.

So, when is the best time to go?

Anytime is a great time to enjoy free, public art, but if you happen to step out on the right Thursday, you’ll be in for a treat. 30-minute guided tours run from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on every third Thursday beginning in Lillard Park next to the Depot Gallery. If you prefer to travel at your own pace or can’t make the guided tour, the QR codes can take you on a self-guided tour that includes access to audio of the artist’s statement.

You can also check out the artwork and read more about area history, murals, and landmarks at the Sparks Art Walk website.

And if you make it to a tour, don’t forget to tag #sparksartwalk and #thirdthursday in your photos.
